Darcy Grimes is the Digital Lead Teacher at Hall Fletcher Elementary in the Asheville City School District. Her passions are hands-on STEM lessons, coding, robotics, design thinking, global education and connecting students with others around the world. She wants all students to have the critical, social, and collaborative skills that it takes to be successful in an ever-changing world and believes strongly that STEM and Design Thinking activities are a wonderful way for students to practice these skills.
She has a Master’s degree in Educational Media/ Instructional Technology, Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University, and add on licenses in Middle Grades Social Studies and Language Arts. She is a member of North Carolina Digital Learning Coaches Network, Pear Deck Certified Coach, Makey Makey Ambassador, Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert and Skype Master Teacher.
Darcy is the NCTIES Outstanding Young Educator Award Recipient 2018, North Carolina Teacher of the Year 2012-2013, Northwest Regional NC Teacher of the Year 2012, Watauga County Teacher of the Year 2012, and Bethel Elementary School Teacher of the Year 2012.
