“From the mountains to the sea, all are welcome to unite and learn from each other to better educate our North Carolina students!”
On Saturday, November 18th the NC Chapter of the National Network of State Teachers of the Year held the first annual edcampuniteNC at Elizabeth City State University. This was the first edcamp that had been held in Elizabeth City, NC and we knew ECSU was a perfect place to hold the first one! We choose November 18th because it was a perfect ending for the Education Week that ECSU celebrated November 13-18.
EdcampUniteNC was born out of a discussion of how diverse our state is. We recognize that teachers across our state do not have equal access to edcamps, professional development opportunities, and resources and we want to help in any way we can. We chose Elizabeth City for the first edcampUniteNC because I have been told for a couple of years by amazing teachers in the northeastern part of NC that they would love an edcamp that is within driving distance to their schools. So, we did just that and it was a huge success!
